The White House Chief of Staff (COS) is a position of tremendous responsibility and prestige. Currently staffed by former Republican senator Mark Meadows, the post has been filled by four different individuals during the Trump Presidency since late 2016.
According to the Wall Street Journal, Reince Priebus and John Kelly, President Trump’s first two chiefs of staff, earned $179,700 each. The maximum salary allowed for any White House aide is $183,000. This is, in fact, the salary that senior advisers Kellyanne Conway and Larry Kudlow (Trump’s top economic adviser) earn.
Trump’s third chief of staff, Mike Mulvaney, earned a higher salary because he was officially the Director of the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) and was unofficially acting White House COS. Because of this, his annual pay was in excess of $200,000.
